Today we visited the Vocational Training Centre where Aart den Breejen, CMS Ireland Mission Partner, works with the local staff. Here young men and women learn life skills and various trades, which hopefully will lead to employment on completion. The emphasis of Aart’s instruction is based on Christian values, proverbs 22:6 tells us ‘teach your children to choose the right path and when they are older they will remain upon it.’ Throughout the tour we saw how Bishops Appeal, through CMS Ireland have supported the VTC over the years.

Later in the morning Rev Alice introduced us to the Mothers Union sewing programme. This enables young girls whose parents can no longer afford to keep them at school an opportunity to become seamstresses, unfortunately the poverty trap often prevents them acquiring a sewing machine to carry on their skills.

In the afternoon some of the team went to a women’s bible study which was led by Mothers Union members. As before the welcome received by the team was overwhelming. It was a privilege to join with them as they praised and worshiped God their love and faith was inspiring. The heavy rain failed to dampen their spirit in any way, and all were blessed by their time together.

Other team members helped lead the missionary children’s bible study where the children were eager to hear what the visiting ladies had to share. Through games and with the help of Mo the puppet they told the story of the ‘Lost Sheep’. When teaching John 3:16 as a memory verse they were delighted to hear the children reciting it without prompting.

The day concluded with team time and devotions, part of our daily routine here. Each day brings new challenges, as we remember Philippians 4:13 ‘I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need,’ we look forward to and embrace each new day and challenge.

What a wonderful welcome you have had, as you share and also receive. Remembering the team in prayer. May you feel God's guiding hand day by day.

Dear Elsie ,, . What please it give me to read what you and your team have been doing ..You always remember to take time to stop and give someone encouragement,….to thank God daily for friendships and loved ones and you never take anyone for granted. Good leaders don't order, push or demand… they guide, lead and inspire. and you take on a little more of God's nature every time you show love to others. No doubt you and your team will find that while your time will be full of action, excitement, discovery and learning…….most of all it will be full of love ………..it doesn't matter how much it rains !!!! As you said you were all blessed by the time you spent together at bible study. God keep you safe and remember there is no happiness like knowing you have made a difference in someone else's life…….June
