Prayer letter No. 10
1 December 08

Greetings from Belfast. Last month, as well as having French lessons, preparing for the Islamics course and serving at the YWAM Belfast base, was a time of praying, talking and seeking God’s will with YWAM and iNet for my next steps. In October I was given a word from a prayer time for me in the DTS at the YWAM Closkelt base in N Ireland. They felt that I was in a time of being built up and preparation before being able to go out. There was a picture of me seeing the mountains but having to work and walk through the plains first before finally being able to climb the mountain. I had just received Rick Joyner’s prophetic word for the week containing an almost identical word. He explained, ‘to climb the mountain to maturity and the fulfilment of our purposes, we will have to go back and forth, making many turns – going one way, mostly emphasizing our personal relationship with the Lord, and then having to make a turn and emphasize our corporate relationships.’

This makes sense to me in terms of my continued preparation for my ministry in Burundi but also I think re the time I’ve had back in Belfast. It has been invaluable to be here for a while and I am so thankful for the encouragement, prayer and fellowship of friends in YWAM and CMS Ireland. As I am not doing formal theological study here (which I had anticipated) and there isn’t a team of people here who are ready to be part of YWAM Burundi, we sense that I should move out to Burundi slightly earlier than anticipated. So I have booked to move there on 21st January which is very exciting. I will be hosted initially by Rema Ministries who I’ve worked with before. I’ll spend the first few months learning Kirundi, continuing to study French and networking so I can then do the trauma healing training I feel called to. I was greatly encouraged at Church in Belfast last week by this verse from Habakkuk 2:3, ‘for the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens towards the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay’. Amen, come Lord Jesus!

Supporting my move to Burundi

There are some larger expenses involved in moving to Burundi and I hadn’t expected to be going as early as January. I will need to buy a second hand car as it is not safe to use public transport alone and I hope to buy a new laptop as I have no battery left on mine which isn’t good for Burundi with its frequent power cuts! Please contact Niall through CMS Ireland’s Belfast office if you’d like to give a one-off gift. Thank you so much! I also hope to take a few DVD’s to watch on my laptop. If you have any you no longer use that you think I may enjoy feel free to post to me – just email me for my address!

Commissioning Service in Belfast

CMS Ireland have very kindly organised a Commissioning Service for me on Sunday 11th January at 3 pm at the Church of the Epiphany, Locksley Park, Finaghy, Belfast BT10 with a tea afterwards. Please do come if you are able!

This month

I’m going back to England on Friday 5th December to go to All Nations Christian College for an Islamics course. I will then be in London for 5 days having some meetings and spending sometime with my Church in Brockley, before returning to Sussex to be with my parents, grandparents and brother for probably our last Christmas together for a while. I have a lot of admin and packing to do for moving to Burundi which I need to get on with!

Prayer Requests

- Special time at Christmas with my family.
- For a Christian houseshare in Bujumbura.
- God’s help and provision with all the practical preparations for moving to Burundi.

Thank you for all your support. This comes with my love and every blessing for a very Happy Christmas and New Year.
