Luganda lessons

Well its been a month since we last posted on the blog so it must be time for an update. There has been a lot of change at Kiwoko since we arrived – with Both Rory and Niall joining the team in the last two months. Since Niall has arrived Ken has upped his exercise regime – so far he has managed only one 15 minute run but with big plans for the future! – if nothing else we give some of the locals a bit of a laugh first thing in the morning. Judith continues to be in charge of the guest house which plays a significant role in the life of the hospital. She is also developing her Occupational Therapy role – please pray for her as she tries to get involved in OT while also running the Guest House. Ken meanwhile is amongst other things producing a budget for the Hospital for the next financial year. Please pray for this as the hospital is not in a good state financially – costs have increased while income has fallen in the past year and at the moment the finances are a major concern. In between these concerns we hope we are developing good relationships for the future and we are competing with each other in the learning of luganda. So here is a bit of a test for anyone who is interested – what does the following mean (hope it is spelt correctly) Mwattu tutwale ku ddwaliro – here's a clue – this was said to us recently when we picked up a man on the roadside having been gored by a bull he was trying to castrate – the car needed a bit of a clean afterwards! Thanks for your interest with our love Judith & Ken

Great to read your latest chat from the comfort of Knockbreda. We had a wonderful family service on Easter morning and we are hoping for a very successful outcome to the Lent project to support your building programme. Much love from all in knockbreda.
Hi, glad to hear you have settled into new surroundings. Hope you are both in good health and enjoying work at Kiwoko Hospital. Rodney is finished ploughing and ready to plant crop. Weather much inproved and was able to put out cows on Friday 21st. Rest of the family all well. Be in touch later Dv. Remembering you in prayer. The Finch's at Killycarn!!
