Meeting with the local women & children

On Wednesday Kelly Y, Kelly K, Kirtsy, Lesley, Anna, Lisa and David McBeth went to St James ACK in OloiTokitok to spend time with the Mothers’ Union. We arrived in true African time, had chai and went into the church.

The service started with a time of worship and prayer led by the MU. The prayers were extremely loud and full of conviction – it was amazing to be a part of it. We spent time talking about what the MU do in Ireland, both in the traditional form and the different WAGS (Women & Girls Sharing) groups as well as what they are doing in Kajiado – the similarities far outweigh the differences and we all got some ideas to take home. It was a privilege to be part of this day and we all appreciated being there. As an added bonus we stopped at the shop where we all enjoyed cold fizzy drinks and Kenyan chocolate.

This week some of the team ran a children’s programme in a local school where we worked with the children, playing games, doing crafts and singing songs including the hokey kokey – it was a real blessing to be part of this and witness the joy and faith of the children.

The team are now preparing to head back to Kajiado and meet up with the red team tomorrow, before starting to get ready to head home. We are all looking forward to seeing friends and family and ask you to pray for safe travels for us all.
