Building Relationships

After months of planning, we met at Belfast City airport at 12.30pm on Saturday 1st and began the long journey to Rwanda.

Our first test of faith and team building was at London Heathrow when one of the team was advised she may not be allowed into Rwanda without a visa as she was travelling on an Irish passport – this was different to those travelling on a British passport. Prayer support began both at home and in Rwanda and the good news is powerful prayer from faithful people works and she got through without a hitch!

God went before us and therefore we had a smooth and uneventful journey – arriving in Kigali 24 hours and 30 minutes later. We were met by the two bishops of the dioceses that we are visiting – we felt special and much loved. They then joined us for afternoon tea in the garden of the guest house before making their long journeys home. We all felt that the first important step in building our relationship and dependence on each other was the shared prayer for our friend Anne (over the visa). We look forward to travelling to Shyogwe and extending this relationship.

After a rest, the two teams joined together for devotions and a meal. We had a surprise visit from our friend Pastor Amos Nsengiyumva – this was a relationship/friendship started 2 years ago in Northern Ireland when he stayed in our parishes. We were even more surprised to hear he had a two-hour journey home – on his motorbike! We then had an early night!!

As we leave Kigali we are unsure of future internet connection but keep checking back – and praying!
