my first week...

So, it's just over a week since I arrived at Kiwoko Hospital. I thought I'd take the chance and reflect upon the experience so far. I've been trying to think about the expectations that i had prior to coming – some of those definitely have been met, but yet others havent.

The welcome here has been fantastic – overwhelming at times. People here have been kind – they want you to feel welcome and feel at home. Work has been really enjoyable – I'm working with a great team here. They are so committed to helping people in the community with the HIV/AIDS programs. Godfrey is the supervisor of the team and has been very gracious as I try and get my head around all the different donors and programs that we have.

I am taking some time to settle into actually living here – Kiwoko doesn't feel like home yet. I'm not panicking about that though – after all I have only been here a week and it will take time! Saying goodbye was pretty tough at the airport and I do miss people at home. That being said, I remain convinced that this it where God would have me, and I look forward to being part of His amazing plan over the coming months.

The plan for the weekend is pretty relaxed – Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays so non – medical staff are not working (sorry, Rory!). I'll spend the time unpacking, moving into my new house and maybe get out on my newly reassembled bike!

Thanks for all the comments on the blog – it genuinely makes a difference and makes me smile!
