well, my deveoted blogees..
Christmas is approaching… i have now finished work for a few weeks and am enjoying a coffee with dr r in Kampala. You'll be glad to hear that i have my christmas tree up, and the stockings have been bought for santa to fill. looking forward to heading off to Mombasa on boxing day with a friend who is coming out from home for the festive season. As great as Kiwoko is, it will be nice to get away and realx for a few weeks.
workwise… we continue to be busy.. the large funding proposal i mentioned earlier is causing some frustrations… months have passed and we still havent been able to start the projects because of a series of delays. Seriously, there must be easier ways to get money… this week, Ken had to produce a document for them with 13 hours notice.. they phoned at 8pm saying it had to be with them in Kampala the next morning at 9.30!1 I've been doing lots of reading around the topic of HIV/AIDS and in particular, looking at examples of good practice from around the world for HIV are programs. It's been really enlightening, though has shown me we still have work to do. As always, the ideas are there, but it's just a case of working out a sustainable, apropriate way to make it happen here.
hopefully you'll have received a christmas link letter from me in the last few weeks.. if not, and you'd like to get on the mailing list… either contact me or the cmsi office.. shakespeare they ain't, but they do provide a more complete reflection on my experiences here.
Well, as I'll be sunning myself on the beach in a week or so, this may be my last blog in 2006. If that is the case, let me wish you a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful and blessed New Year. Thanks for all the support and messages over this time, and in the last 9 months generally. It really makes such a difference to know that people at home are behind me.
