Greetings again from thundery Kiwoko.
Cultural conditioning is great. While dealing with a sick baby last night there was a large explosion in the compound. Everyone seemed at ease and then I realized that it was just incredibly loud thunder right at hand and not an explosion at all! Sadly the child died. Not all our treatment has a successful outcome. However the mother could see that we had tried hard and all that could be done for the little boy had been performed well. It is always a challenge looking after very sick children on general wards who would be in an intensive care unit in Europe. The 2 nurses on the ward spent most of the morning with this one patient, and so hardly saw any of the others. Thankfully the ward wasnt as busy with admissions as it sometimes can be.
One man was discharged last week who had been on the ward for over a month. The first two weeks he was deeply unconscious, and I had little expectation of him leaving the hospital alive. The day before discharge he came to morning hospital worship, clutching his copy of Mark's account of the Gospel, grateful not just for dramatic physical improvement, but finding peace with God after one of the nurses shared her testimony with him.
Please do keep praying for financial challenges, staff shortages and interstaff relations.
Thanks as ever
Rory
