Greetings from Kiwoko.
Every morning we start the hospital day with staff worship – a time of singing, teaching and announcements. Last week Sr Justine our Matron enjoyed making an unusual announcement. ‘Our medical superintendent is to be married’. That’s me! The screams of excitement from the staff and students was truly overwhelming.
Denise Kane has been working for an organisation called Fields of Life. Originally from Northern Ireland, she has been based in Kampala for the last year, but will be coming to live and work in Kiwoko after our wedding in early December. She is no stranger to Uganda having worked as a nurse in a rehabilitation unit in Mukono (a town East of Kampala) for several years.
With so many friends and family in Uganda + Ireland we plan to have a ceremony in both geographical parts of our lives. The legal wedding should be in Uganda, but we also plan to have a significant celebration in Ireland in early March.
Prayers would be most welcome for our preparations in the coming months – not just for the wedding day, but also as we prepare ourselves for our new life together.
We look forward to catching up with you next year when home on furlough.
Lots of love
Rory + Denise
