Martha clinic is incredibly busy. Our patient numbers are rising fast and the new building is now full to bursting. We are now having to build a waiting room which will be used for health education while the patients wait.
We will be using the CHE programme which teaches health education and the gospel together. The waiting room has been funded by a private donor, and also by a young man who took part in a sponsored extreme marathon in Lanzarote to raise the funds. The waiting room will match the main building-a red roof and grey walls. We will then need funding for benches for the building. Any donations gratefully received! Yei Vocational Training College will make them.
We have appointed two new staff this week to cope with the huge rise in numbers and also have started our vaccination programme. We advertised the vaccination programme on Spirit FM Yei and the response has been huge. Two practice nurse friends from Winchester and Cumbria have visited this week and worked extremely hard kicking the vaccination programme off. Somehow we need to cope next week when they have gone.
Today, a large locally based health NGO has been to visit. They have looked at Primary Health Provision in the vicinity and have named Martha as by far the best model for others to follow. They have made an appointment for a meeting with us to discuss our progress. Since they are the main Primary Healthcare providers in the area this is so encouraging that the clinic staff are doing such an amazing job.
