It was a happy afternoon in Goja.

The new school that had been their dream for years and which was the community’s top priority in their 20 year plan had been completed in record time. In only 45 days, a brand new classroom block had been constructed, plastered and painted and was ready for immediate use. This new classroom block replaces classrooms that needed constant maintenance. At the key handover ceremony, the Chairman of the PTA told the community, “No longer will I need to ask parents each year to bring grass and poles to keep the classrooms dry”.

The community thanked God for hearing their prayer and thanked CMS Ireland for this wonderful provision for their children.

The classrooms cost $56,000 and were funded by the Basic Services Fund, commissioned by CMS Ireland and the Diocese of Yei and constructed by Expert Services Ltd. Eight pit latrines were also provided as the school had none before and school desks will be purchased from Yei Vocational Training College.
