On 20th January the Yei Churches still have their Christmas decorations up. I was able to make use of a snowman decoration which was passed round the congregation during a talk on Christian Character.

The people worship with dancing, singing and with great joy in the Lord. We, who have so much materially, have so much to learn from these poor people who give their heart, body and soul as they worship.

On Monday morning there was a bit of bartering to be done! John and Poppy Spens came in after breakfast so we told them our terms. “We have just one condition before we agree to your request to speak at the youth camp. Will you give us Christmas Cake?” Amidst much laughter at this ongoing joke, Poppy agreed!

Youth Camp, Yei was a joy to behold. Over 300 young people in the Vocational Training Centre sang ‘hot songs’ (those songs in Africa that get EVERYONE up on their feet dancing and singing) and danced for hours on end, they listened attentively to a message on the Father’s love and truly were a joyous gathering of ‘on fire’ worshipers.

As we were dancing in the heat and dust, Poppy Spens brought us our piece of Christmas cake. “Hallelujah – Amen.”

Praise the Lord – PRAISE THE LORD!!!
