Autumn Edition of inMission Magazine Available for Download

Inmission27

“We, who in material terms have much, can struggle to give God our first, our best, our all. And yet, a life committed to following Christ demands no less”

Writing in the latest edition of inMission magazine Roger Cooke, CMS Ireland’s Regional Mission Partner for Asia, suggests that the upcoming harvest season provides us with an opportunity to reflect on how much of our lives we are prepared to give to God – and to His service.

The Autumn edition of inMission explores the theme of harvest in more depth and features input from CMS Ireland’s partners in Sudan, Kenya, Uganda and Nepal.

Yep, there’s electricity...

Verbouwing_2008

You never know for how long, so, I’ll better hurry with this blog.

Aart is busy getting his hot shower working. There has been an instant heater installed in this guest house for the Arch Bishop at one time. He doesn’t use the Dutch Electricians Norms, but well, it works. The kids are fast asleep after a warm bath in the tub, water heated on a charcoal fire.

Unexpected Change...

Both of us returned to the UK at the end of July so that Poppy could receive medical treatment for a swelling that has was later diagnosed as a large ovarian cyst. She had an operation for its removal on 19th August and a complete hysterectomy as well. She will need to lead a quiet life here in Winchester until November at least.

Our sudden departure from Yei meant that we had little time to hand over things in the way we had wanted. Poppy had a day to implement her six week handover programme and, as John only made the decision to leave Yei at 5pm on a Friday afternoon before flying on the Saturday morning, he had rather less time!

Mission Matters

At the start of the summer we launched a questionnaire/survey thing to help us get a better idea of how people think about mission.

It started at our ‘Global Pavilion’ venue during this year’s Summer Madness festival and will be continuing until early Autumn on the website.

The questionnaire is entitled ‘Mission Matters’ and should only take about 5 minutes to complete…so if you’ve got 300 seconds to spare… fill in the form and let us know what you think…

Heart restoration (20.08.08)

The Team Ramro official Nepal programme is over and the majority of the team are now back in Belfast, catching up with friends, family and sleep and showing off their farmer’s tans and mosquito bites. But 2 team members remain in Nepal for some unfinished business. It’s been all about the heart!

Times they are a Changin'

Rory_and_denise_outside_rory_s_house_at_kiwoko

We are delighted that CMS Ireland Mission Partner, Dr Rory Wilson, has recently announced his engagement – and will be getting married later this year.

Writing from Kiwoko Hospital, in Uganda, Rory says,

“Every morning we start the hospital day with staff worship – a time of singing, teaching and announcements. Recently Sr. Justine, our Matron, enjoyed making an unusual announcement. ‘Our medical superintendent is to be married’ – that’s me!

Breaking the silence (12.08.08)

Apologies for the lack of blog action in the last 8 days – we have understandibly been demoted from the much prized ‘featured blog’ spot on the website. But I’m not prepared to give it up completely. We want that gold medal.

There is much to tell, so this will be a long one!
