Travelling to the 'heart' of Africa...

Burundi, often referred to as the ‘heart of Africa’ as a result of its location and characteristic shape, is the destination for a CMS Ireland META team in the summer of 2009.

METAs are Mission Experience Teams Abroad. They provide opportunities for Christians in Ireland to visit one of our partner locations in another part of the world, to experience life and work there and to sample something of a different culture. This META will be a great encouragement to our partners in Burundi and our hope is that they will inspire, challenge and enthuse the participants to engage more deeply in global mission.

This particular team will be spending around 2 and a half weeks in July/August working alongside our partner churches in the dioceses of Gitega and Matana. The work will be a mixture of practical service, building relationships with local Christians and seeing how the church is involved in mission in Burundi.

The team is open to any aged 17+ (it’s not just for young people!)
