Mission in the 21st Century – “Huge challenges for the church…”


“The old ways of doing mission are rooted in our culture – and they don’t apply to global mission today”, claimed Tim Dakin, CMS Britain’s General Secretary, at a recent gathering of clergy in Belfast.

Speaking during the session, hosted by CMS Ireland, Canon Dakin explained that rapidly changing global situations meant that there were significant challenges for those looking to engage in contemporary mission.

'Going for God' - Former Mission Partner Releases New Book...


The recent Mid-Africa Partnership Conference, in Newcastle, saw the launch of a new book by one of CMS Ireland’s longest serving volunteers and former Mission Partner, Sheilagh Jebb.

Entitled ‘Going for God’, the book is a reflection on almost 40 years of mission service with the Church Mission Society. Starting during the 1950’s in Nigeria and subsequently moving on to Sudan, The Gambia and Sierra Leone, Sheilagh’s ‘mission story’ is an inspiration to those considering long-term service today.
