Are you aged 17-25 and looking to broaden your perspective on global mission and the world church? If so, then read on for an exciting opportunity to work alongside our partners in Kenya during the summer of 2009…

What?
METAs are Mission Experience Teams Abroad. They provide opportunities for Christians in Ireland to visit one of our partner locations in another part of the world and to sample something of a different culture. METAs can be a great encouragement to our partners and our hope is that they will inspire, challenge and enthuse the participants to engage more deeply in global mission.

This META will spend around 3½ weeks in Kenya, following on from the CMS Ireland Annual project for 2008 – ‘Footsteps’ – which was based in Kajiado Diocese and focused on schools’ work within the Diocese.

The exact program will be finalised over the next couple of months, but will broadly consist of opportunities to spend time with the local church, some sort of practical work and a chance to see the country of Kenya.

When?
Exact dates will be finalised once the team is selected, but currently we are projecting the trip for early July/beginning August 2009. Prior to this, there will be a comprehensive training and preparation process, involving a number of meetings to ensure that participants are able to fully engage with our partners in Kenya.

For who?
This team is open to anyone aged 17- 25. In the event of the team being oversubscribed, priority will be given to individuals from CMS Ireland Kenya link parishes.

How Much?
We expect the team to cost €2000/£1600- this includes flights, insurance and all other in-country costs. There will be extra costs for you to cover on top of this e.g. vaccinations, team training weekend.

What Next?
Application forms must be completed and returned to Julie Currie at either the Belfast or Dublin office by Monday 22 December 2008.

Download the application form here.

Interviews are scheduled to take place over the Christmas period. Applicants will be informed by letter of the date and venue. These interviews are informal and are as much about helping you with your decision as they are about us ‘selecting’ a team.

Hi Julie - my Mum told me she spoke to you a week or so ago. I am trying to download the application form for the Summer 2009 trip to Kenya. It does not seem to be there on the web yet. Can you please let me know. If you are coming to Dublin at all in the next few weeks, it would be great to meet up. Many Thanks ,Alison
