In the Nick of Time!

Today – 30th April 2009 – we witnessed the unfailing provision of a faithful God. During April, the Nile Commercial Bank where both the College and Martha Clinic have funds ran out of cash. The Martha clinic had all its cash reserves in the bank.

But today, on the day when the College had no funds left and stocks of food and fuel were almost exhausted, money reached us from Winchester. The cash was more than enough to pay salaries this afternoon, on the due date. God’s timing was perfect. The College was able to pay a bill it owed to the Martha Clinic and, after a worrying month, the clinic was also able to pay all the staff salaries in full. Poppy said that as she paid the staff in cash, it was like the widow’s cruise of oil that never ran dry. The pile of notes seemed never to dwindle.

But as the icing on the cake, in the electronic post this morning, we received news of a gift from USA for a new planing machine for the college. We had been praying for this for at least a year. That it came on the same day – on a day when the College was so short of money we had little left to buy food and fuel – was amazing.

You can imagine our celebrations in College devotions this morning, when John spoke on the pearl of great price. When you find what you are seeking, you give everything to get it.

Also today 120 bibles arrived by MAF plane. Here’s a photo. This was another gift from a Winchester donor. John plans to give one each to students when we have the next student fellowship on Wednesday afternoon.

We are just amazed at God’s goodness and timing.

Thanks everyone. Praise God.
