So we have arrived, after 6 hours in Heathrow, 10 hours to Kenya, 2 hours in Nairobi and then an hour to Entebbe, and then a few hours by bus (picking Stewart up and having lunch along the way) we are here in one piece.
We lost a bag on the way which we are currently tracking and whilst a few peoples stomachs where upset with the travelling, the excitement of getting everything planned has picked up spirits!
We have been made feel so welcome by the staff at the hospital, especially Rory and Denise and Alison Fletcher, who is our contact person for this trip. She has put alot of hard work into this and it has made things for us a lot easier.
So what have we done so far?? Well, we have settled into a very nice training centre at the hospitals – me, sam and suzy have landed on our feet, a room each, all with double beds and ensuites!! Haha the others are sharing rooms.
We then got a tour round the hospital – a lot bigger than we first thought and then we had a big chat about the rest of our time here!!
I think everyone was sleeping by 9pm cause there wasnt much sleep had on any of the flights, so everyone was shattered!!
This morning was an early start for 7.30am breakfast and then morning prayers which was unreal!! Great worship and a top class thought for the day about God’s love!
Now we are planning the schools work which we are doing for the next 4 days (one day being with the staff of the hospitals kids), making sure everything is organised. So i better not chat too much longer as i have disappeared to get the internet working so we could update you all with whats going on!!
Will try and micro blog on our youth twitter http://twitter.com/ballyholmeyouth and we’ll hopefully be able to update that more often than this, although, the goal is every couple of days with this blog!
right, back to work!!
things to pray for? Laura Foster’s bag, which was lost by kenya airways, Jo Courtney who is feeling a wee bit under the weather and for the team safety and a reopening of their eyes to God and the wonders of this earth!!
grace and peace
