Sadness and thanksgiving in Sudan
This last few week has been a time of great sadness and loss, but also a time for thanksgiving in the Episcopal Church of the Sudan (ECS).

Greetings once again from a hot and dry Bujumbura where we’re only having electricity about 24 hours on / 24 hours off. So computer work, emails etc are not possible half the time. It’s very frustrating! I’m intrigued though to see how many Burundians are also reliant on their computers. Things just seem to come to a standstill in offices when there’s no power – in Bujumbura at least.

…walking along the perimeters of the rice fields with the swaying mass of grain surrounding you and more, the smell of the grain is tremendous. Over powering, in its odour, it is a wonder no-one has bottled it yet!

momentum (noun): the impetus and driving force gained by the development of a process or course of events
Are you one of the 163 people who have been involved in a CMS Ireland short-term placement or META (Mission Experience Team Abroad) over the past year? Have you had the opportunity to spend time with some of our Global Partners throughout the world?
If so, we want to encourage you to keep up the momentum of your experience as you continue getting on with the more “normal” way of life back in Ireland.
Momentum…a chance to look back…to reconnect…to keep moving…
Momentum will take place on Friday 9th October 2009 at 8pm in the CMS Ireland Belfast Offices.

A few more picture this time, plus some remarks. We’ve been around for over a year now. Got to know lots of people. And ourselves a bit more. And experienced that our Sender is as faithful as ever.

This month saw the launch of CMS Ireland’s monthly prayer gatherings in the Belfast and Dublin offices. As the new autumn terms begins, CMS Ireland will continue to keep prayer at the centre of its work, and these gatherings are just one of the ways in which staff, volunteers, members and supporters can bring the Society and the work of our Partners before God.
Prayer is a blessing and a powerful weapon, and what an honour to come together to lift up what God is doing in Ireland and across the world.
The next prayer events are Monday 5th October 2009 in the Belfast offices and Tuesday 6th October 2009 in the Dublin offices.

CMS Ireland staff were saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs Patti Pope, a dedicated and long serving member of the Society. Please remember her family at this time, and keep them in your prayers.
