momentum (noun): the impetus and driving force gained by the development of a process or course of events

Are you one of the 163 people who have been involved in a CMS Ireland short-term placement or META (Mission Experience Team Abroad) over the past year? Have you had the opportunity to spend time with some of our Global Partners throughout the world?

If so, we want to encourage you to keep up the momentum of your experience as you continue getting on with the more “normal” way of life back in Ireland.

Taking part in a META or STEP is no holiday. Yes there may be sunshine, laughter, good friends and maybe even be a new stamp in your passport…but these experiences tend to be so much more. You have had an opportunity to jump into the deep end; to experience a new culture and way of life, to engage with people and situations which you could never have imagined, to be enriched by witnessing God at work in a fresh context.

There are many challenges and blessings to a META or STEP experience….and each experience will be personal to every individual.

So what next? What follows this experience, which may have vastly expanded your horizons, challenged your views, fired your passion to serve God….

We, at CMS Ireland, want to give you a space and an opportunity to reflect on your experiences, to share stories with people who have been in similar situation, and to celebrate how God works in and through these opportunities, giving thanks to our Father for our brothers and sisters around the world and our fellowship with them.

We want to encourage you to relate your experiences to your life in Ireland, to take all you witnessed, felt and thought and let it be a driving force in your life, not something you limit to pictures and memories.

Momentum…a chance to look back….to reconnect….to keep moving.

Momentum will take place on Friday 9th October 2009 at 8pm in the CMS Ireland Belfast Offices.
