On 26th October, we caught the MAF plane in Yei to fly north 140 miles to Maridi. On the plane already was CMS Ireland Board Member Dr Trevor Buchanan, who had just flown out from Ireland via Entebbe.
One of the purposes of our short visit to Maridi was to start the foundations for a new Primary School to replace old temporary buildings which are overcrowded and in poor shape.
We received an amazing welcome from the children, with garlands given to Trevor and John. Bishop Justin Badi conducted a short ceremony, dedicating the site to God and praying for the construction of the new school. CMS Ireland is funding three of the classrooms while African Revival is funding another three.
While in Maridi, we also visited the Diocesan Bethesda Clinic where CMS Ireland is funding a whole range of clinic improvements including renovation of the two existing buildings, provision of water and solar electricity, new equipment and new systems.
bq.My goal is to bring the standard of service to the same level as we have achieved in the church clinics in Yei and Lainya. It’s not all about nice buildings. Well trained staff and good services are just as important. Poppy Spens
