The journey continues...

After successfully negotiating the vagaries of luggage allowance at Belfast City Airport, Paul and Tanya Baker flew out to Uganda last night to begin their placement as Mission Partners at Kiwoko Hospital in Uganda.

This marks a significant leg in a journey that began for them a couple of years ago, when they first talked together about possible long-term Mission service overseas.

The Bakers arrived characteristically early at the airport (Paul’s influence, rather than Tanya’s apparently), giving them time to sort out the baggage issues, say farewell to their parents and spend some time with CMSI staff.

After praying a blessing with the Bakers, Mission Director Ronnie Briggs shared his enthusiasm for this new chapter in CMS Ireland’s ongoing relationship with the Global Church.

“This is a big day for CMS Ireland and for our Global Partners in Uganda. As new Mission Partners who are starting their first term of service, Paul and Tanya represent so much of what’s important to CMSI. They go to serve God and to serve the Church. They go to develop real relationships that will transform lives, in Uganda and in Ireland.”

Paul and Tanya hope to share something of their early experiences at Kiwoko once they’re settled in to their new home. Look out for their blog in coming weeks!
