Hallo Everyone

My name is Gideon Mugisha Wilson, and I am nearly 10 months old. I live at Kiwoko hospital with my mum and dad. I decided that I would like to tell you about my life here. I get up at around 6am and love to start playing right away. Mum isn’t as excited about playing at this time of the day as I am.

I have my cereal with daddy before he goes to work. I like to watch daddy when I sit at the table, sometimes I tell him about my dreams and if he isn’t looking my way I shout a few times or give him a big smile. He always gives me a scratchy kiss when he leaves for work.

Eating is a lot of fun these days now that I can hold some of it myself – like bananas and pineapple chunks. I love pineapple and apples, they are my favourite foods. Mum is always complaining now that the floor is messy after I have been sitting at the table!

Sometimes mummy takes me to ‘staff prayers’ in the morning, I love the music and especially the noise of the drums. When I grow up I am going to have drums.

My special friend Joyce comes at nine o’clock. I love Joyce, she helps mummy with the washing and she plays with me, speaks and sings to me in Lugandan and sometimes even takes me out when she does messages. We have lots of fun. Joyce has a son who is 3 months younger than me and sometimes he comes to play. I also have made friends with other children who live nearby. It is fun to be with people almost the same size as myself.
I love going out in the pram because so many people stop and say hello. I think it is because I am paler than all the other babies around here? There are chickens, cows and a pig to look at on our way. Sometimes children will come and help mummy or daddy to push the pram for a little way along the road. Some of them had never seen a pram until I came along. They called my pram a ‘bike’ or a ‘car’ when they saw it at first. How funny! I have to put on a cream when I go out as it is very sunny here; I hate getting it put on and try to wriggle out of it when I can.

One of my favourite times of the day is bath time before bed. (I can get pretty messy these days now that I can crawl.) I love splashing and getting mummy or daddy and the floor all wet! It is great fun! It is the only great part about getting clean!

I go to bed around seven, but sometimes mummy lets me watch ten minutes of Baby Einstein dvd first. It has all kinds of animals, shapes and colours on the computer screen. I wish mummy would let me push the buttons as well as watch the programme, but I can only reach it when she is not paying attention.

If daddy is off at the weekends I help him in the garden, weeding and looking after the pineapples or doing other jobs like fixing punctures on the bikes. Daddy says that I am a great help. Mummy knows that I have enjoyed myself when I need to have an extra bath afterwards to clean up again. Daddy has put a special seat on the back of his bike for me and we go for picnics. At first I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not, but now I love it. Sometimes if I am too tired I even fall asleep before we get home.

The last couple of weeks have been busy, I got 4 new teeth on the top, then mummy took me to the antenatal clinic where they weighed me and told me I am 9.2kg. This was good, but then the lady in the white dress jabbed my arm with something sharp. I only cried a wee bit. Mummy said that it was to protect me from measles – sounds like it might have been more fun than the prick!

I am tired now so I am going to say bye.

My granda Billy is coming to see me in a couple of weeks so I need to get all the sleep I can now before the fun begins!!

Byeeee

Love Gideon x

Hope you're having lots of fruity fun over there, well i certainly am, making my own smoothies with asda fruit. Mum planted a banana seed, but it failed miserably. aww! but we have melon plants, 2 grapes, 2 cherries and loads of apple and pear trees (dad planted, of course) in a NEW 4 acre field. how many acres do you have Gideon? mum would like a recent photo of yourself, please. P.S. tell your mum and dad that Simon's accepted an offer to edinburgh uni. thank goodness he's going. phew. Also E-J leaves school so i'll be the only one at school now. poor me. lots love, hugs and kisses from all. BYE
