Hi! :)

My names Kirsten Brown, I’m from Belfast, attend St. Pauls Church and in only 3 weeks I’ll be heading out to Kenya! :)

I’ll be in Kenya for 3 months, with 6 weeks in Nairobi and 6 weeks in Kajiado. In Nairobi I’ll be working with a project called the Urban Development Project. (UDP) Working for a few days during the week out in the community and in the slums and the other days taking part in activities in the church. During my time in Kajiado I will be working as a Nursery assistant in a local nursery school with I am so excited about!

The 27th of April really seemed much further away but with just 3 weeks to go the preparations of fitting in the last few fundraisers, trips to the doctors and trips to town to buy all of the necessary clothing that is needed really does make for a jam packed 3 weeks! :)

So far my fund-raising efforts have gone extremely well. Different fund-raising events have included an acoustic night and soup lunches. With the support of my church, family and friends each one has turned out amazingly and the events really have been events to remember!

My last fund-raiser I have before I leave is a Ladies Pamper night on the 16th of April. This will include head and hand massages, nail treatment and free pamper bags. If the night is anything like any of the other fund-raisers it will definitely be a night to remember!

I’m so excited to be going back out to Africa. Last year I was in Rwanda for 3 weeks and I had the most wonderful, exciting and amazing time. My time in Rwanda changed me as a person and brought me immensely closer to God and the relationship that I have with God now is the best its ever been!

I’m hoping that my time in Kenya will bring me even closer to God and I hope that I meet new people, make some amazing friends and have new and exciting experiences.

These three weeks will most likely fly past in the blink of an eye so in that blink I hope I have everything that I need and I am totally prepared for the next three months that await me in Kenya! :)
