Getting ready to go...

There’s still plenty to do before we go, with injections to get and clothes to buy but I’m very excited to get to Kenya and to see how God will use us when we’re there.

On the 24th April I am having a commissioning service in my church in Limavady which will be a good opportunity to let everyone know exactly what I’m going to do and to say goodbye.

While in Kenya we are going to spend 6 weeks in Nairobi getting involved in the Urban Development Programme. Given the recent media coverage of some of the slums in Kenya, I am really looking forward to experiencing such a different way of life for myself. I cannot wait to meet the people there and to get to know our brothers and sisters in Christ through the cathedral in Nairobi. I am sure, however, that it will bring its challenges for us and I pray that God will help us through any more difficult times while we are away.

The second part of our time in Kenya, God-willing, will be spent in Kajiado, living at the ACK compound. In 2008 I went on a school trip to Kajiado so I am really looking forward to going there again and hopefully seeing some old friends. While there I will be spending some time in the clinic as I am going to study medicine in September. I am also very eager to see the girls’ secondary school which has recently opened nearby as the building began for that school when I was in Kenya before.

There is quite a lot of packing to be done before we go, but I am really excited about the experiences and opportunities which lie ahead in the coming months. I pray that God will use us for His glory and that we can make some small differences to the lives of the people that we meet.

I can’t wait to go to Kenya!!

Joshua 1:9 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
