A local school in Rathmines recently head a very special bake sale to support the 2011 Annual Project, Living Stones: Building Church in Burundi

Kildare Place National School in Rathmines recently took part in the 2011 Annual Project , learning lots about CMS Ireland’s Global Partners in Burundi.

Inspired by what they had learnt, the pupils decided to hold a very special bake sale as part of their fundraising efforts for the project. Each bun at the bake sale cost 25c – which is roughly equivalent to the cost of a brick in Burundi. So every person who bought a bun, was also buying a brick to help build a church in Gitega Diocese in Burundi.

In total, the pupils raised £252.85 – enough for 1011 bricks!

Parish Development Worker, Andy McCormick, went along to the School spoke at a special assembly at the end of May to say a big thank you from CMS Ireland! (See photo on the right).
