Yesterday saw the judging of this year’s Annual Project Competitions. With over 150 entries across the four age-groups, it was quite an event!

The Competitions
This year, the children and young people were asked to produce something from the All Things New Project, which focuses on the life of David and explores some of the issues facing children in South Sudan. For more information about the project click here.

Under 5s: Draw a picture of your family (from Session 4: ’God’s Big Family’).
5-7s: Colour-in and decorate the picture of David.
8-11s: Write a letter to a child in South Sudan.
12+: Produce a Poster and/or poem that shares something you’ve learned from the project.

The Judging Process
On Monday afternoon, the Annual Project Team read through and looked at every entry, completing a certificate for each child who submitted their picture or letter and shortlisting 5-6 entries for each age group. We were hugely impressed by the time and effort that had gone into every piece of work and it was great to get a sense of just how much the children and young people engaged with the project. Well done to everyone who submitted an entry and to the Sunday School teachers who helped out and who made sure we received everything on time. As well as a Certificate, we’re sending an Annual Project Pencil case to every child who entered the competition.

Yesterday, after lunch, the CMS Ireland staff team in the Belfast Office took time to look through the shortlisted entries in each age group, to discuss their favourites together and agree the winners and runners-up…
