In Nairobi

Nairobi – Sunday 14th July

It was hard to leave Oltiasika on Friday morning as we were not only saying goodbye to our Purple team colleagues but also to the beautiful setting and comfortable facilities that we experienced there. We had also left the site at Imberikani the previous day – a bitter sweet parting. We had feelings of anticipation for our time at the UDP in Kayole and at the same time sadness at having to leave the Imberikani site with so much still to do.

Thankfully the journey to Nairobi went smoothly and we arrived at the ACK Guest House in time for a late lunch. Here we were also reunited with our Blue team colleagues who had just finished a week at UDP. They too were sad to leave their past week’s work. After some team times and debriefing, we had dinner and an early night- the six Blue team members plus Ronnie and Maggie were headed back to Oltiasika early next morning.

Saturday was a rest day and we spent some time at a very nice Western style shopping centre – no doubt the polar opposite of what we’re about to experience in Kayole. On Sunday morning we were picked up by Lois, our boss for the next week, and headed to All Saints Cathedral. This was an amazing experience – so many services catering for adults (both English and African), youth, teens and children. All of us attended 2 services each! We also listened to the Rev John Mark (a reminder of home for me) as he explained the organisational structure of ASC, and its different ministries.

Tonight we have feelings of excitement and anticipation at what God has in store for us this week. We would be grateful if you would remember us in prayer. Please pray for safety and health, but above all that we may show God’s love in everything we say and do.
