Back to porridge

It’s been a week already since we arrived home, with tired bodies and weary heads, yet our hearts remain with the people we encountered and experiences we had in Kenya. If, like me, you were straight back to work, you will realise the benefit of taking time out to visit Kenya, meeting our partners in Mission and brothers and sisters in Christ. Far away from home and the distractions and stresses of ‘Western’ life, we had the opportunity to experience something of life, and the challenges it poses for Kenyans. We also witnessed firsthand some of the fantastic projects supported by CMSI, and the many people who benefit from them.

So it’s ‘back to porridge’ for us, but there are some considerations. How was the experience as a whole? Have we been challenged by any aspect(s) of the trip? Have we felt any particular affinity with a project or group? What have we learned and what do we hope to learn about our own personal mission and where that may lie? These questions, and many others, occupy our minds as we seek to process all that we experienced during our time in Kenya. However, there are a lot of memories which we will cherish always and later, when we reflect in our minds upon our time in Kenya, the sights and sounds of this beautiful country and its people will come to life again.

So, from team ‘Pole Pole’, thanks to everyone who made it possible for us to have this experience – to our families who ‘allowed’ us to go, to all who supported us financially and/or in prayer, to CMSI for the preparation and organisation of the trip, to Ronnie, Maggie and Kelly for their leadership, but above all thanks to our Heavenly Father for the opportunity and for His protection which we felt every day.
