Chris and Sarah return from Uganda

Last year, CMS Ireland re-launched its student-placement initiative with the Church of Ireland Theological Institute. The Society had previously facilitated a number of such overseas placements for Church of Ireland ordinands and it was felt that this would be a worthwhile venture to revisit.

After the success of last year’s placement with two of our Global Partners, this year Chris and Sarah MacBruithin (Diocese of Derry & Raphoe) opted to take up a placement with our Partners in the Anglican Diocese of Madi West Nile in Arua, Uganda. Having returned from a busy three weeks of visiting schools, ministering to the sick, preaching and sharing at various services and events – they have been totally overwhelmed by the generous hospitality and welcome of the church family in Arua, and in particular Pastor Collins for looking after them so well.

Chris was able to keep up a blog while they were in Uganda. Here’s the link to “Chris’s blog”: http://werenotinkansastoto.blogspot.co.uk/2014_05_01_archive.html

They have also written an article for their parish magazine, which can be accessed through the following link (page 9).

Our heartfelt thanks to Bishop Joel, Canon Isaac and Pastor Collins for making their visit to Arua possible; and a huge thanks to David & Heather Sharland, along with the staff at Jericho guesthouse for caring for them!

We hope to hear more news regarding their visit in our next In Mission magazine towards the end of the summer. Keep remembering the work of our Partners in the Diocese of Madi West Nile in your thoughts and prayers, as they continue to build the Kingdom of God in that place…..
