On Tuesday, CMS Ireland held its annual ‘thank you’ event for its volunteers in Belfast.

Each year, the work of CMS Ireland is greatly enhanced by different groups of volunteers. There’s the team who gather in the Belfast office every few months to package-up inMission magazine and the prayer diary. There’s Barbara, Gladys and Rebecca, who each come in to the office once a week to help with administration (Barbara and Gladys) and Marketplace (Rebecca) and Adrian – who joins the staff every Monday morning in his role as staff chaplain. Then there’s Board members, volunteer speakers, other Marketplace volunteers and those who help organise and host CMS Ireland events.

Every June, the CMS Ireland staff bring their year to an end by hosting a special gathering for these volunteers.

This year’s event took the form of a 200th birthday party for CMS Ireland. While last Sunday – 22nd June – marked the anniversary of the first meeting of CMS in the Province of Dublin, Tuesday was the anniversary of the first meeting in the Province of Armagh. The two events provided the perfect excuse for a party, complete with cakes and ‘pass the parcel’.

A huge thank you to all those who volunteer for CMS Ireland and ensure that we can continue to equip the church in mission.
