As CMSI’s Global Partners in Nepal respond to those whose lives have been most severely impacted by the earthquake, we are launching a ‘response appeal’.

Over the weekend, we heard from our Global Partners – SD Church and HDCS – as well as from our Mission Associates, Mark and Deirdre Zimmerman. Each of them have made clear that their immediate priority, in terms of support from Ireland, is for our prayers. With disrupted communications and the understandable chaos over the weekend, all of our partners were keen to take a few days to reflect on the needs in rural areas of the country.

As emergency aid efforts kick in and people here in Ireland continue to watch events unfold on the news, there will be an understandable desire to respond financially.

In the mid-term and longer term, our Global Partners will be involved in supporting those most affected by the disaster within their own areas of work and influence. We’ve set up a Nepal Earthquake Response Appeal to support our partners in this work. Money given to this will be used in response to the needs and requests of our partners, as and when they’re able to use it over the weeks and months ahead. We believe that supporting our partners in this way is the most effective expression of our partnership in mission.
