As news reaches us of a second, significant earthquake in Nepal – just 17 days after the first quake – we ask for your continued prayer for the country and for CMSI’s partners there.

Today’s earthquake was recorded at a magnitude of 7.3 with the epicentre in the east of Kathmandu, near the Everest region. You can click the following link for the BBC’s Live Updates.

Over the past 7-10 days, we’ve heard news of the different ways in which our partners have been responding to the initial earthquake. For example, SD Church brought together a Relief Committee to consider their response. They formed two teams – one for the Kathmandu Valley, to bring food support and other help to the SD members in and around the capital city, the other to go further afield and support communities in three areas where SD has daughter churches.

We’ve also had regular updates from HDCS, who have been sending teams to rural areas with food and medical support. You can read their latest update "here’:/downloads/HDCS-Update-May-8.pdf

Please continue to uphold our partners in your prayers. As more news comes in, we will keep you updated.

Thank you.
