CMSI is delighted to launch ‘Firm Foundations’ – our annual theme for 2015/2016. Throughout the coming year, we want to highlight the importance of leadership training for our Global Partners – and to support them as they build for the future.

The Spring 2015 edition of inMission magazine was entitled ‘Firm Foundations: Investing in church leaders.’ We aimed to shine some light on the one thing that our Global Partners always highlight as their biggest priority when asking for support from Ireland: leadership training. We were very encouraged by the positive response to this magazine!

On the CMSI staff team, we often find that parishes and individuals are much more keen to support building projects, or programmes related to health, education or water than they are to support bible teaching, clergy training or leadership development initiatives. Of course, these other things are hugely worthwhile – they are helping our Global Partners to meet real needs, sharing God’s love in practical ways.

And yet, we remain convinced that our number one priority needs to reflect our Global Partners’ number one priority. We want to keep ‘making the case’ for leadership training. We want to ensure that we do everything we can to help invest in church leaders who will lead God’s people in God’s mission and will act as pastors, teachers and community leaders.

Over the coming year, we will continue to tell stories of the many different ways in which our partners are engaging in holistic mission; we’ll keep doing all the many things we do to equip the church in mission. But we want to maintain a special focus on leadership training. At diocesan synods, at our own events and on this website, we’ll highlight this issue as our number one priority.

We ask for your support for this initiative. Please help us invest in Firm Foundations. Please help our partners to build the Church.

Thank You.
