David Gough is CMS Ireland’s Regional Mission Partner for Sudan, Egypt, DR Congo, and Zambia

Originally from a media background – working for Morton newspapers – David’s life was transformed by the film, ‘The Killing Fields’. Until then he admits to having ‘no world view’ and the challenges issued by that film changed his life’s direction. David’s first experience of the developing world was to Cambodia in 1989 with a small missionary organisation, Southeast Asian Outreach.

In the 1990’s he made a career change and moved into the development sector, working 12 years for Concern as the head of the Northern Ireland fundraising team. Part of his role included serving overseas on short term emergency missions with Concern’s Rapid Deployment Unit – working in countries like Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, Mozambique, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

He now returns to the challenges of contemporary mission with much to learn but hopefully many valuable experiences in development work to share.

David is married to Eileen and they have three sons – Simon, Andrew and Richard.
