Roger Cooke is CMS Ireland’s Regional Mission Partner for Asia. At present this involves developing the work of CMS Ireland in India and Nepal – while building links and exploring opportunities with others working in the wider region.

He is a thirty-something non-vegetarian originally from Bangor, County Down. He has just moved to Rostrevor, on the shores of Carlingford Lough, where he lives on his own, with his collection of exotic spices.

Roger has spent much of his adult life in various universities in the UK, searching for the elusive ‘excellent educational experience’. In between such studies, he has had a variety of jobs, including a stint as a Youth and Community Worker in West Belfast and a short time as a geography teacher in Cumbria, England. Most recently, he worked for Interserve Ireland before completing an MA, in theology and development, from Leeds University.

Roger has had links with mission work in Asia for ten years and he is always keen to remind people of the dire poverty and material suffering that exist outside of Africa. Roger has been the Regional Mission Partner for Asia since December 2006.
