Yesterday was ‘CMS Ireland Sunday’, combining the themes of Advent, St. Andrew and Mission. Give thanks for the 40+ churches who took part and for the team of volunteers who spoke in morning services. Pray that, through this venture, God would inspire many people to engage more deeply in mission.

Pray for an end to the ongoing fighting in eastern DR Congo. Hundreds of people have died and more than 250,000 have been displaced from their homes as conflict, once again, threatens to tear this country apart. Pray that politicians and military leaders would find a way to bring peace.

DR Congo: Remember those who have been forced from their homes as a result of fighting in the area surrounding Rutshuru. Pray especially that they will find shelter and food as they search for refuge.

Thursday, 04 December 2008

DR Congo: Pray for Bishop Bahati, of Bukavu Diocese, as he tries to find ways of responding to the needs of those who have been bereaved, injured and displaced. Ask that church leaders would have wisdom and compassion as they minister among the brokenness brought by violence.

Friday, 05 December 2008

DR Congo: Remember all of our partners in DR Congo as they deal with the wide-ranging effects of the current conflict. Pray for those in other areas of the country who have lost loved ones in the fighting. Pray also for Church leaders in Kindu and North Kivu Dioceses as they support their brothers and sisters in Christ in the worst affected areas around Rutshuru and Goma.

Saturday, 06 December 2008

Uganda, Luwero Diocese, Rory and Denise Wilson: Today Rory will be marrying Denise Kane in Luwero Catherdal. Please pray for their wedding and their new life together, that they would learn to love each other and love Jesus. Pray also for Denise as she settles into her new life and roles in Kiwoko after leaving Fields of Life.

Sunday, 07 December 2008

Uganda, Luwero Diocese, Kiwoko Hospital: The ambitious building project to construct a purpose built maternity and newborn unit has at last begun. There are several technical challenges, including ensuring the building has the structural capability for the possible addition of a second storey at a later date. Pray for the builders and the committee overseeing the development, for safety and wisdom.

Monday, 08 December 2008

Uganda, Luwero Diocese, Kiwoko Hospital: January will see the annual pastors conference for local church leaders. This year will also see the launching of a recently retranslated and printed ‘Christianity Explored’ resource in one of the local languages, Luganda. Please pray for the extensive practical and spiritual preparations.

Tuesday, 09 December 2008

India, Christine Matthews Health and Development Society: Pray for the Committee of the CMHD Society as they make difficult decisions about the future of the programme. Having not yet secured the necessary government permission to receive foreign contributions, the Society has insufficient funds to buy new medical supplies or pay staff. Pray for wisdom and a sense of peace.

Wednesday, 10 December 2008

India, Christine Matthews Health and Development Society: Pray for Dr Kumuda and her staff at the clinics that in the midst of uncertainty and frustration, they would know God’s presence and peace. Pray also for the local community who use the clinics, that they would still be able to access medical care.
