Kenya, Kajiado Diocese: Please pray that there would be sufficient rains in order to alleviate the famine and drought, which has affected Kajiado for more than three seasons now. Pray that people would be sustained through this prolonged drought and in particular, that their cattle would stop dying. Please pray for the only real solution to this problem – rain.
Kenya, Kajiado Diocese, Ronnie and Maggie Briggs: Pray for Ronnie as he supports Jeremiah, the Project Manager at Maasai Rural Training Centre, at Isinya. This role brings with it responsibilities which require much wisdom in decision making. Pray for Ronnie and Jeremiah, as they seek to revive this Development Centre and steer it through economic hardships.
Kenya, Kajiado Diocese, Ronnie and Maggie Briggs: Pray for Maggie, as she heads up a project to extend the existing vegetable garden (shamba) at MRTC and introduce a greater variety of vegetables. This is made possible by using water from the centre’s borehole and drip irrigation. Pray that this will provide more income for the Centre and that the scheme can be used as a demonstration for local farmers.
Kenya, Urban Development Programme, Nairobi: Please pray for Kenya, as the country goes through a period of drought, famine and political uncertainty. Many people are starving or very hungry, and the recent rains have been insufficient. Please pray for food security in the UDP communities, as the cost of basic food items has risen well beyond affordability.
Kenya, Urban Development Programme, Nairobi: Please pray for the Tumaini Youth group, as they reach out to the neighbouring communities in evangelism, education and pastoral support. Pray that they may find the means to expand their resource centre and welcome more members and guests.
Sudan, KajoKeji Diocese: Pray for the staff of Canon Benaiah Poggo College as they provide a 3-month training course for all those Diocesan clergy without any formal theological qualifications. Pray that these courses would help encourage and equip local church leaders in their ministry.
Sudan, KajoKeji Diocese: Pray for staff and volunteers involved in new Diocesan ministries like the HIV/AIDS awareness programme, ‘Participatory Awakeners Process’ and the micro enterprise scheme. Pray that these initiatives would make a positive impact on people’s lives and would contribute to poverty alleviation.
Sudan, KajoKeji Diocese: Pray for the preparations for elections in February 2010. Pray that this process would go smoothly and that there would be no violence as the elections draw near. Pray too that the Comprehensive Peace Agreement will be implemented fully across Southern Sudan, in spite of some delays and difficulties.
Uganda, Uganda Christian University (UCU), Jason and Louise Mehl (on home assignment): Jason and Louise have recently completed their term of service in UCU. Pray for the Mehls as they make the transition from life in Uganda to life in Ireland. Pray that time in Ireland will allow them to feel refreshed and renewed as they rest and catch up with family and friends. Pray for clear guidance for their future, as they discern what their next step should be.
Uganda, Uganda Christian University (UCU), Jason and Louise Mehl (on home assignment): Pray for the continued development of the UCU Sports department and the staff, students, and coaches that Jason has left behind. Pray particularly that God would continue to be at work in the lives of the students – drawing them closer to Him.
