Ethiopia, Gambella Region: Please pray for the people of Ethiopia, some of whom are suffering again this year from drought and crop failure. Nininyang, in the Gambella region, is suffering in particular. Pray for the church as it seeks to bring help and hope in the midst of suffering.
Ethiopia, Gambella Region: Please pray for the communities living on the border with Sudan where Murle cattle raiders have started taking children to sell as well as the cattle they normally take.
Ethiopia, Gambella Region: Please pray for everyone struggling with high inflation, which is particularly extreme for food, especially those who are on reduced income due to the regular power cuts which have been affecting Ethiopia
Sudan, Yei Diocese: Pray for the staff of the Martha Primary Health Care Centre and Yei Vocational Training College that both facilities will run well, develop new programmes and continue to serve the needs of their local communities.
Sudan, Yei Diocese, John and Poppy Spens: Pray for John and Poppy as they continue to help develop health services for rural communities, to train teachers and health workers, to oversee the building of some village primary schools and the drilling of new boreholes. Pray that John and Poppy will know God’s guidance and blessing in all that they do.
Sudan, Yei Diocese, John and Poppy Spens: Pray for John and Poppy as they travel on the roads to other dioceses where CMS Ireland has partnerships. Pray particularly for the preparation for the start-up of a new Primary Health Care Centre in Lainya, which is due to open in January 2010.
Sudan, Yei Diocese, John and Poppy Spens: Pray for John as he serves the Diocese of Yei as a lay reader and works with the Cathedral team to introduce discipleship programmes for the large, young congregation.
Uganda, Luwero Diocese, CHE Program: Pray for the ongoing work with CHE – pray that trainers working with local communities would be able to sustain interest amongst CHE members. In particular, pray that they would improve their communication networks in order to support each other better.
Uganda, Luwero Diocese, CHE Program:Pray for the CHE management committee, which has the task of managing, supporting and encouraging CHE. Give thanks for the individuals involved and pray that God would give them all the energy and vision that they need.
Kenya, All Saint’s Cathedral, Nairobi, Urban Development Programme: Please pray for water for the Nairobi area. Rainfall earlier this year was insufficient, and the dams supplying the Nairobi area are now almost dry. Pray that the short rains in October/November bring good water supplies and that the UDP communities may withstand the current drought and remain in good health.
