Seasonal Prayers
Yesterday saw the start of Advent and was also St Andrew’s Day. As we prepare to celebrate the Incarnation – ‘God with us’ – we pray that each of us will introduce people to Christ in simple, ordinary ways, just as Andrew did.

The bishops in Rwanda will meet for a retreat together at the beginning of December in Byumba Diocese. Pray that God’s wisdom and provision will guide discussions and plans. Give thanks for this opportunity to share and have fellowship together.

RWANDA: Kibungo Diocese
At Iterero School, buildings are being constructed to hold a computer classroom and library, and are due for completion by January 2015. Pray for smooth and timely development of the constructions. Remember the teachers and children as they begin to use these new facilities to enhance their learning.

RWANDA: Kibungo Diocese
The diocese is preparing for a pastors’ retreat, including the ordination of new pastors, on 7th December. Pray for the organisations and speakers involved, and particularly for new pastors as they prepare for ministry in their parishes.

RWANDA: Shyogwe Diocese
The pastors in the diocese, along with their families, attended a retreat together at the end of November. Please pray for them as they return to their parishes, that they will be refreshed and encouraged to continue with the many ministries they lead on a daily basis.

RWANDA: Shyogwe Diocese
The diocese runs various courses to teach and equip catechists and evangelists. Pray for all involved in the current course, that they will be empowered to bring the Good News in their chapels and parishes.

Work is well underway with the Annual Project for 2015. Entitled ‘Little Lights’ – the resource uses themes of hope and light and includes a special focus on DR Congo. Pray for those involved in writing, designing and editing the material and pray that many parishes would make use of the project.

In the coming weeks, the CMS Ireland staff will be hosting two special, festive gatherings for friends and supporters of the Society – one in Dublin on Wednesday 10th; one in Belfast on Wednesday 17th. Pray that many will come along and that both events will be significant times of sharing and encouragement.

IRELAND: Short-Term Experience Placements (STEPs)
Give thanks for Tony Moffett’s 3½ months STEP in Madi West Nile Diocese, Uganda, working alongside the Vocational Training College in Arua. Pray for Tony as he adjusts back to life in Northern Ireland and for the provision of suitable employment.

General elections will be held in Burundi next year. Pray that this will be a free, fair and democratic process. Pray for the National Electoral Commission, its representatives in all parts of the country and for Church leaders taking part in the electoral process.
