For many years Ireland has primarily been the support base for CMS Ireland’s work in other parts of the world. However a commitment to partnership and an embracing of Ireland as a mission region, in its own right, are beginning to change the picture.
A functioning peace process (in the North), a growing economy (in the South) and a burgeoning immigrant community (in both parts of the island) are changing the face of Irish society – and opening up new opportunities for mission in the process.
CMS Ireland is working to build mutually enriching partnerships between the Church in Ireland and the global church which encourage mission focused discipleship and help local Christians play their part in God’s mission. This means that accompanying churches on their mission journey, placing Mission Partners in Ireland, offering opportunities for cross-cultural mission experiences, empowering children and young in mission and working with immigrant communities are all part of the emerging mission story for CMS Ireland in Ireland.
As this embryonic phase in CMS Ireland’s ministry takes shape new links and partnerships will evolve to complement existing relationships.
