Ebola Cases Rise in DR Congo

CMSI is sharing their concern about warnings of an escalation in cases of Ebola in the North Kivu Province of Democratic Republic of Congo and the impact it is having on their Global Partners there and in surrounding areas.

Bishop Isesomo in North Kivu Diocese has been especially concerned about the Diocesan Children’s Home, and CMSI recently sent funds to improve their Ebola prevention measures in the home.

In Goma Bishop Desire has also requested assistance for Ebola Awareness and Prevention Programmes in his Diocese.

Our other partners in DRC (Kindu and Bukavu Dioceses) and in neighbouring countries Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda and Zambia are also registering the risk that Ebola may still spread to their communities too.

The World Health Organisation produced a new Situation Report on 14th May which gives the most up-to date information regarding this current situation. Please keep our partners in DR Congo in your prayers at this most difficult time.
