Sparks Of Inspiration At CMSI Conference

On Saturday 18th September, CMSI hosted its annual conference, Ignite. For the second successive year, the event was held online. More than 90 members of CMSI’s family joined together from 11 different countries - it was a truly international gathering.

The morning began with a chance to receive greetings and ‘zoom waves’ from our numerous global partner guests. Following a time of prayer and reflection, Jenny Smyth introduced CMSI’s new annual theme, Kingdom Come. The opening session finished with some updates and stories from one of our partners in Nepal, who encouraged us with how God continues to establish and extend His kingdom, despite the obstacles and restrictions created by Covid-19.

For the next part of the programme, delegates divided into smaller groups for a series of mini-seminars on a range of topics, including:

  • Green Mission - caring for creation

  • Nest And Shade - responding to refugees

  • Virtually There - supporting the global Church remotely

There was also a chance to watch some short video updates from each of the countries where CMSI’s global partners are at work.

In the final section of the programme, we heard from Rev Canon Ban Follis and Tanya Howe, who shared something of the impact of the partnership link between Hillsborough Parish and the Province Of Alexandria (including the Diocese of Egypt). The morning concluded with a time of sharing and prayer in small groups.

Here's what some of the attendees said about the event:
