Looking For The Light

“The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory. Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the Lord will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended.” Isaiah 60:19-20

Without Jesus in our lives, we can often feel we are journeying through life without light and stumbling around in the darkness. I personally don’t like the dark, I don’t feel confident or safe without light.

In John 8:12 Jesus said: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

With Him, life has purpose and meaning. Sometimes, we will use different things to light our lives to make sense of things – those might be okay for a time, but they will eventually let us down and they will go out, we can’t depend upon them.

Isaiah 60 tells us that the Lord will be our everlasting light. Jesus is our light.

The wise men journeyed with their eyes fixed on the light of the star, to find Jesus. This Christmas season, may we also look to the everlasting light that came to us in the person of Jesus.
