This month saw the launch of CMSI's new theme for 2019-2020. Entitled Church At The Centre, the theme focuses on God’s main strategy for mission: the Church. It explores how local churches are God’s chosen means of sharing His message of hope, redemption and restoration.

We’re delighted to confirm that the Rt Revd Moses Zungo, Bishop of Maridi Diocese, South Sudan, will join us for our annual conference, Ignite, in September. Bishop Moses and his wife, Mama Rejoice, were recently granted their UK visas and are now awaiting a decision on their Irish visa application. In addition to contributing to the Ignite programme, they will be spending time with CMSI link churches during a two-week visit to Ireland

Earlier this month, the CMSI family lost one of its much-loved elders, with the passing of Rev Canon Raymond Smith, who previously served as General Secretary of the society.

A number of former and current CMSI staff, Mission Partners and members attended Raymond’s funeral and thanksgiving service on 23rd July in Christ Church, Delgany. Raymond’s successor as General Secretary, Rev Canon Cecil Wilson, shared the following words of tribute:

CMSI is asking for prayer for its partners in DR Congo, as the Ebolo outbreak is declared as an international crisis.

Archbishop Masimango, Bishop Bahati, Bishop Desire and Bishop Isesomo head up our partner dioceses in DR Congo, representing Kindu, Bukavu, Goma and North Kivu. As of 17th July, the location of these dioceses is within the designated Ebola international emergency zone.

On Sunday 16th June, a Commissioning Service took place in All Saint’s, Antrim for those participating in CMSI teams or mission placements over the summer months. 

The service, led by Rev Aaron McAlister and CMSI staff, provided an opportunity to look ahead to these visits and to ask God’s blessing on those taking part. It was also a time for friends and family to show their love and support, as they helped to send out the team members and volunteers.
