Celebrating Two Heroes Of Hope

This month has seen the retirements of two much-loved friends and leaders of CMSI's Global Partners. They have both faithfully shared God's hope and new life with countless people in their ministries, as well as playing a key role in developing deep partnerships with parishes and individuals throughout Ireland.

Louise Githire [Urban Development Programme, Kenya]

We give thanks for the UDP project manager Louise Githire (pictured second from the left) as she celebrates her 60th birthday and retires from her post at All Saints' Cathedral, Nairobi after 30 years of faithful service. Louise is a founder member of the project (along with Lucy Irungu, Isabelle Prondzynski and Kathleen Warambo – also pictured). She has worked tirelessly alongside the people of Kayole and other marginalised groups with deep compassion and the desire to see lives transformed through love.

Louise will now be able to spend more time with her husband Danson and her two young sons Timo and Sam, although she hopes to keep on her UDP links in a voluntary capacity. CMSI was able to send her a card and gift in token of thanks for all the wonderful work she has done over so many years.

Bishop Hilary Luate Adeba [Yei Diocese, South Sudan]

Earlier this month, Bishop Hilary, our long term friend and leader of CMSI's partnership with the Diocese of Yei, retired. Bishop Hilary is well known to many people across this island as he has visited parishes and homes, preaching, praying, enjoying hospitality and making friends. He will retire to settle in Yei with Mama Joyce in their new home on the outskirts of town.

Bp Hilary has expressed the desire to find a new role in ministry in his retirement – and so please pray for wisdom as he discerns the Lord’s will and for Mama Joyce’s health.

Bishop Hilary writes:

‘I am personally excited that even as we enter the new year, promises of a good beginning are already being revealed by the Holy Spirit to us.’

Thank you to all who have prayed for and supported the ministry of the Diocese of Yei over many years. We look forward to continuing in partnership with Bishop Hilary’s successor.
