Quills Update: Autumn Ministry & Prayer Requests

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your prayers and support over the last few weeks.

We enjoyed our holiday in Scotland, spending time with family and friends and enjoying the seaside.

During this time we had our medical assessment at Healthlink 360 (based near Edinburgh), which flagged up a few issues that need attended to before our return. Andrew has picked up the Bilharzia parasite, which is endemic in South Sudan, but he has no noticeable symptoms (except tiredness).

On 26th July, we shared about our time in Ibba with the folks in Eyemouth Baptist church (Joanne's parent's church) who have been praying and supporting us. We were delighted to be able to share the report from Rev Emmanuel, the local CHE Coordinator, that the CHE TOT 3 (Training of trainers) in Manikakara went well with 14 completing the training. It's wonderful to see the CHE ministry progressing.

We returned to Northern Ireland after hearing the news of Andrew's mum's critical condition and it was a blessing that we were on home assignment at the time of her death, and able to be here with family at this sad time.

We are resuming our link visits and speaking engagements, and have a busy month head.

On Sunday 6th we shared with our link parishes in Stradbally Union in Co. Laoise.

On Monday 7th September, we spoke at the 'Wings women's Group ' @ 7:30pm in Christchurch Primacy, Bangor with a focus on the women of Ibba.

Then on Friday 11th & Saturday 12th September, we participated in the CMSI's Ignite Conference at the Dromantine Retreat and Conference Centre, Newry. This annual event is an opportunity for people to gather as a CMSI family and learn about mission taking place in the different global partner areas.

Archbishop Samy Fawzy Shehata, from the Province of Alexandria shared in person, and there was a special focus on the Middle East.

On 13th September we had our link visit to St Finnians in Belfast and on Monday 14th September we attended the St Patrick's & St Andrew's Mother's Union meeting in St Andrew's Church, Coleraine.

An update from the Diocesan Secretary in Ibba (Rev Captain Justin) informed us that there's been insufficient rain in Ibba during this rainy season. Climate change is leading to further economic problems in the poorest country in the world.

Bishop Wilson also raised concerns about the increase in witchcraft in Ibba County.

There has also been increased political tension in Western Equatoria Province (Ibba is one of the counties in this province) due to misinformation and the removal of government representatives as a result.

As this week marks the 'Week of Witness' in Ibba Diocese, many are going home to home, as well as to government departments and businesses, with the Good News about Jesus.

Pray that this bears much fruit for the Kingdom.
Pray all medical issues are sorted in good time for our return to South Sudan.
Pray the Holy Spirit will guide us in the messages we share in each meeting.
Pray for Safety as we travel.
Continue to pray for God's comfort and strength for our family especially Andrew's father.
Give thanks for the 14 CHE trainers in Manikakara.
Pray for God's guidance and blessing for the CHE Ministry.
Pray for sufficient rainfall for the crops to flourish and produce a plentiful harvest.
Pray for wisdom for the church leaders in how to address the increase of witchcraft in th area.
Pray for peace and. stability in Western Equatoria Province and across the nation of South Sudan.
