It is over a month since the world heard of a much celebrated Peace Agreement for the Democratic Republic of Congo (https://news.un.org/en/story/2025/06/1165071). We encourage you to pray that this agreement which is described, at best, as a possible pathway to peace, will indeed be a move towards change for Eastern Congo.

For now, in the CMSI office we continue receive weekly messages detailing new atrocities, from our partners in Eastern Congo. The UN has published news of an attack on Monday 28th July. Even before we had opened the news report we had received information from the Provincial Youth Worker for the area. His words ground us in the reality of the ongoing conflict in DRC and behoves us to pray earnestly and not grow weary of the charge to pray for peace in DRC.

CMSI will continue to uphold the church in DRC in prayer, to encourage parishes around Ireland to partner with churches ministering in such challenging situations and support them as they grieve with their communities and witness to our crucified saviour.
