CMSI Postpones AGM

In light of the rapidly developing response to COVID-19 and following last week’s closure of the Church Of Ireland Theological Institute (CITI), CMSI has cancelled its upcoming Shine event and postponed the society’s Annual General Meeting.

Shine – CMSI’s annual members’ day, which included the AGM – was due to be held at CITI, in South Dublin, on Saturday 28th March.

Last Thursday’s decision by the Irish Government to close all schools and colleges meant that the venue for Shine was no longer available. This coincided with a growing consensus among the Board of Trustees that postponing the event was the best course of action.

Speaking about the change of plans, the Chair of CMSI’s Board of Trustees, Revd Adrian Dorrian commented:

Given such widespread uncertainty and in light of our shared responsibility to care for and protect one another in the CMSI family, the Board of Trustees felt that the wisest option was to cancel the Shine gathering and look at alternative arrangements for the AGM in the coming months.

“We will continue to monitor the situation to see how best – and when best – to arrange an alternative meeting. In the meantime, we would encourage our members to view the current annual accounts and get in touch if they have any questions or comments.

“We want to assure our members that we hold them in our prayers at this time. We would ask that they join us in praying for our Global Partners and for those, in Ireland and across the world, who are most severely impacted by this pandemic and the various measures that are being introduced to control it.”
